Mordecai Historic Park

The foundation of a Raleigh Christmas starts at the Mordecai Historic Park located at 1 Mimosa St., a half mile north of the State capital on Wake Forrest Rd. A Raleigh Urban treasure of history and tradition offers traditional wreaths and garland on the historic buildings at the site. A winter garden of salad greens grows in the heirloom vegetable garden as the site's orchard rest for the winter.

Rooted in Raleigh's Christmas Past. The Mordecai Historic Park is the home of a President's Birthplace, Raleigh oldest home on it's original foundation and a traditional garden and orchard.

Once a grand plantation now an urban historic location. The Mordecai land is some of the most historic land in Raleigh.

Once known as Mordecai Grove, Raleigh's Oakwood neighborhood was built around the land donated by the Mordecai family to build a confederate soldier and Hebrew cemetery. A small Bungalow neighborhood which is known as Mordecai surrounds the once largest plantation in Wake county.

Guided Lantern tours with period actors in traditional costumes offer a glimpse of Christmas before Christmas lights and Reindeer names. Check back next year at RaleighChristmasEvents.com for  Holiday events at the Mordecai Historic Park.
